π What Makes Bees Shine
Bring positive energy. You set the tone! Stay upbeat, even when students are tired or restless.
Be flexible. Weather, timing, or supplies might changeβadapt and keep things flowing.
Model participation. Show students that trying and having fun matter more than being perfect.
Balance structure with fun. Clear expectations + a warm, encouraging tone = success for all.
Stay proactive about safety. Always be alert to your surroundings and anticipate student needs. Practice "Radar/Be Seen Looking" (tips from orientation) by considering where you stand and position yourself to monitor all students and encourage safe behaviors to avoid injury.
π‘ Quick Tips for Success
Start strong: Learn a few names early to build quick rapport. Feel free to assign student "jobs" (Teacher's Assistant, Paper Passer, Line Leader, Materials Monitor, etc) for additional support and community building.
Use positive cues: βLetβs all try this togetherβ goes further than βstop doing that.β
Keep backup ideas handy: Simple games, movement breaks, or art prompts for downtime.
Encourage inclusion: Modify activities so everyone can join in.
Reflect the day: End with a high note β a group cheer, calm circle, or quick reflection.
