Your first assignment is just a few clicks away! Here’s how it works:
-
Log in to the BrightBee (web-based) app at app.brightbee.org. 📲
- Browse Available Assignments in your hives.
-
Not seeing any? Try adding more hives to your profile or checking again at a different time of day. Administrators often make new requests in the early morning hours for school day roles, midday hours for after school roles, and in the afternoons and evenings for future assignments.

-
Review the assignment details carefully — school name, address, role type, hours, dress code, and any special instructions.
- We suggest you click on the address (it's set to easily copy!) and put it into a driving app to anticipate drive times for arriving 10-15 minutes before the shift start. Fun Fact: You might notice that a nearby site actually takes longer to reach during rush hour — so don’t be afraid to “buzz” a little further if it means a smoother commute. You’re in the driver’s seat (literally 🐝🚗).
-
If it is a multiday assignment, know that by claiming you are committing to being available for the full scope of work for the duration of the assignment (which could be a few days to a few weeks… to a few months!)
-
Claim an assignment if it fits your schedule.
- You can claim up to 5 assignments per day.
- A maximum of 5 bees can claim the same assignment per day.
-
Your claim will go into Pending status.
-
Approval process: The BrightBee team will review all pending claims and approve a qualified bee.
-
Once approved, you’ll receive a confirmation text affirming that the assignment you claimed is assigned to you! At this time, the administrator who made the request is also notified that you will be the bee assigned to their assignment.
- This is a great reason to shine bright on your profile because admins often check that before you arrive on site.
- From here, you can review your approved assignments in your Bee Dashboard (where you'll Check In upon arrival).
- You can visit your claimed assignments tab to view details about the role, the shift times, and the pay rate.
- We encourage you to click on the site name (link), as it may have more information in regards to parking tips, dress expectations, and behavior management. This extra attention to preparation really goes a long way. More on how to prepare at the link here!

🐝 Bee Tip: Make sure to set an alarm, check the directions and anticipated drive time, and always leave an extra 15 minutes for parking and arrival, so you can start your assignment confidently!
